Skin-soul mirrors

Visual psychology has fascinated me since I started University. I majored in English Language and Literature but I attended some lectures and courses of specialized visual psychology held by Dr. Zoltán Vass, which focused on using the SSCA technique.

Each time I see a beautiful tattoo, I wish to catch a glimpse of what is behind that skin-soul picture. Instantly two questions emerge: ” How to open that soul-window?” or ”What is the story of the shield?” Simultaneously I hope to be worthy of the stories and able to see past the surface.

Painting on human skin, the most delicate and intimate canvas ever made, is an intriguing, double-path communication, with one’s own soul and with the world. Many look at it. Few see it. Some misread it. Others judge it. As for me, I simply marvel at them.

Tattoos may carry the mark of the past, a remembrance of the present, or a dream of the future, it may be a sign of victory or a protection against pain, to mention only a few possibilities. How legible and decodable a painted message is depends on a number of factors. If you wish to find out more about it please click below.
